A tube top is a sleeveless top that covers a woman’s bust and torso. It is usually made from elastic material so that it is snug on the body and does not slide. It is tight on the bust, and therefore more commonly worn on women with smaller chests.
Tube tops came to being in the 1940’s in the US. After exploding to popularity in the 70’s, they went on to fade from the fashion scene for almost 20 years. Then in the 90’s, tube tops came back, especially among adolescents and young women all over the world. Tube tops are now sold in ready-to-wear shops like Zara, H&M, Bershka and Topshop.
