Caraco

Caraco

A caraco is a feminine top created in the eighteenth century. Originally, caracos had long sleeves. Today, the word caraco refers to a garment that is a meeting of tank top and under garment.

A caraco is usually worn under a jacket, cardigan or camisole. Made in silk, cotton or toile, any material can be used to make caracos. Many ready-to-wear mars like Massimo Duti, Agnès b., Et Vous and Etam sell caracos to wear under tops.

Made in silk, satin or lace, caracos greatly resemble tank tops or vests. They have thin straps and cover the bust. They are sold be Calvin Klein, Dim, Aubade and Lise Charnel.

'Au cas ou, il y a une répétition: "A l’origine, le caraco était une veste à manches longues. Aujourd’hui, le terme caraco désigne un sous-vêtement et un débardeur. Au XVIIIème siècle, le caraco est une veste aux longues manches collantes."'
