Topping the list for the fifth year in a row is Brazilian model, Gisèle Bündchen who earned 25 million dollars between June 2008 and June 2009 modelling for the likes of Dior and Versace. Her unique features, athletic figure and innate elegance continue to turn heads.
Heidi Klum comes in second, with a salary of 16 million dollars with several contracts set in stone with Diet Coke, Volkswagen and McDonald’s. To be fair, the German top model has been involved in activities other than modelling, including presenter for Project Runway and Germany’s Next Top Model, as well as guest designer for Birkenstock.
The face of Versace, Longchamp and her own clothing line for Topshop, Kate Moss comes third on the list. Despite her numerous projects, the model is worth a relatively small 8.5 million dollars. The top choice for half of the ad campaigns in Vogue, Moss’ position seems somewhat incongruous – does she have to work double just to sustain her wild lifestyle…?
Miss Moss is followed by Adriana Lima, the face of Givenchy (8 million dollars), with L’Oréal girl, Doutzen Kroes and Victoria’s Secret Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio in joint fifth at 6 million dollars.
Next in line are Natalia Vodianova, whose contracts with Guerlain, Biotherm and Etam earned her 5.5 million, Daria Werbowy (4.5 million), Miranda Kerr (3 million) and Carolyn Murphy (3 million).
Big earners indeed, but the model’s salaries look astonishingly measly when compared with those of sportstars – David Beckham, for example, has an annual income of 42 million dollars, while Michael Schumacher makes around 70 million dollars a year…
